Earth States™
The Colour Alignment Method for Intentional Interiors
Where colour, space & self align
Each offering I create is guided by this approach — a way of designing that considers not just how a space looks, but how it feels, supports, and reflects you.
Earth States™ is an approach to colour and space that considers how colour is truly experienced — not just seen. Rooted in the understanding that each person responds to colour differently, it moves beyond surface-level aesthetics to create interiors that feel aligned, supportive, and deeply personal.
Through this method, colour becomes a tool for wellbeing — shaping spaces that support your mood, energy, and sense of ease, while allowing for true self-expression. It becomes a way of designing homes that reflect not only how you want them to look, but how you want them to feel and function in your everyday life.
Colour is not simply visual — it is experiential.
It shapes how we feel within a space, often without us realising.
Have you ever wondered why you’re drawn to certain colours, while others leave you feeling unsettled? Why one space feels immediately comfortable, and another — though beautifully designed — never quite does?
These responses are not random — they reflect deeper patterns in how we relate to our environment.
Yet colour is so often reduced to an aesthetic decision — based on what looks right or feels safe.
A different approach to colour
My work didn’t begin this way.
Like many designers, I started intuitively — choosing colours I was drawn to and trusting they would work. But over time, I began to see the limitations of that approach. What felt right to me didn’t always feel right for the client.
A space could look resolved, but not feel quite right to live in.
This led me to study colour and design psychology, including the work of Karen Haller, whose research into the emotional and behavioural impact of colour reshaped my understanding of how it is experienced — and how to apply it meaningfully.
What I had once approached visually, I began to understand experientially.
How it works
Through conversation, I come to understand the way you naturally respond to your environment — not just within your home, but in the wider way you move through the world.
The observable patterns in how you move through the world reveal what I refer to as your Earth States, which in turn indicate the colour palette and design styles you most naturally respond to.
Each Earth State is equal — none is better than another. What matters is recognising the one that is most natural to you.
The outcome
From this, I create a colour palette that feels instinctively right — not just visually, but emotionally.
Each project then unfolds through a considered process — refined through light, nuance, and context — so that colour supports how you live within a space.
I don’t choose colours for your home.
I reveal the ones that already belong to you.
Because the right colours don’t simply transform a space—
they allow you to feel held, and at home within it.
Colour, aligned to your nature.
How it Unfolds
A calm, guided process—bringing clarity from first thoughts through to a home that feels entirely your own.
1. The First Conversation
Every project begins with a thoughtful exchange—a chance to understand where you are, how you live, and what no longer feels quite right.
There’s no expectation to have everything figured out. This is simply the starting point—a gentle shift towards something more aligned.
2. Understanding Your Home
We take a deeper look at your space—
how it flows, how it functions, and how it supports your everyday life.
Through careful observation and conversation, we begin to uncover opportunities—bringing clarity to what’s possible, and what your home truly needs next.
3. Defining the Direction
With a clear understanding in place,
we shape the most appropriate way forward.
Whether through a focused consultation or a more comprehensive design experience,
everything is aligned with your pace and the level of support you need.
4. The Design Unfolds
From here, your home begins its evolution.
Ideas take shape with clarity and intention.
Each decision is thoughtfully resolved—
from spatial planning and colour to materials, lighting, and the finer details.
The process feels calm, collaborative, and assured—resulting in a home that not only looks beautiful, but feels deeply right.
A considered approach—so the experience feels as good as the outcome.
